About You

Are you excited by the idea of using geospatial data to help restore habitats, protect wildlife, and tackle climate change? Are you eager to learn, grow and take your technical skills and career to the next level? We're looking for someone with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for working with data. Ideally, you’ll bring the following:

  • Coding-curious: Interest and/or skills in developing Python to automate workflows, manipulate data, and streamline geospatial processes.

  • Data-Driven Brain: Sharp attention to detail and high standard for data quality in all your work.

  • Clear Communicator: Able to turn complex data into clear insights and visualisations—whether it’s a beautiful map, an informative dashboard, or a well-structured dataset.

  • Commitment to Growth: A passion for lifelong learning demonstrated via a dedication to continuous personal development.

  • Practical Problem Solver: Ability to think creatively to implement innovative solutions to resolve challenges.

  • Passionate Explorer: Fuelled by a passion for adventure, environmental conservation, and making tangible impact.

  • Kindness and Approachability: And of course, you have to be really nice! Sharing snacks on long journeys or a packed lunch whilst out in the rain is mandatory!

For this role, we’re envisioning someone who is early in their GIS journey – whether your finishing education, taking a new path in your career, or any other reason – so we can support your growth and development. We also believe in recruiting exceptional people and are committed to having a genuinely diverse team drawn from across the country, with a wide range of lived and learnt experiences. So, if you only have some of the skills above, but are bursting with enthusiasm, driven by a genuine passion for learning, and want to work really hard to Scale Conservation, apply now!

About The role

As our Geospatial Data Innovator, you will be instrumental in harnessing spatial data to inform, guide, and demonstrate the success of our nature restoration projects. You’ll bring our huge wealth of data to life with beautiful maps, apps, and visualisations that not only look impressive, but provide essential information to internal and external stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Beautiful Maps: Produce outstanding maps and visualisations for use in documents, presentations, applications and more.

  • Data Curator: Review data with a keen eye for detail and help us to automate and streamline our existing workflows.

  • App Builder: Support on the creation and maintenance of the ArcGIS web and mobile applications, StoryMaps and dashboards which make up our internal data hub.

  • GIS Evangelist: Use your passion to share the power of GIS and data within the team, demonstrating capabilities, taking feedback on apps and answering user questions.

Once in the role, you will have the pleasure of collaborating with amazing colleagues who genuinely care about you. To help you deliver incredible impact, we will provide tailored coaching and mentoring to support your well-being and development every step of the way.

ABOUT US

Oxygen Conservation was founded in 2021 by the Oxygen House Group and Dr Rich Stockdale with a clear mission: Scaling Conservation. We acquire land at scale on behalf of asset owners to deliver transformative environmental and social impact — creating profit as a result of what we do. In just three years, we’ve completed twelve transactions, assembling a portfolio of over 43,000 acres dedicated to restoring and protecting nature.

Our vision is intentionally aspirational and inspirational: by 2030, we aim to have £1 billion of natural capital assets under management, enabling us to protect and restore 250,000 acres of land for people and wildlife. By combining our scale, reputation, cutting-edge data, and exceptional skills, we’re redefining conservation.

Our work hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2022, we were named Start-Up of the Year at the Business Leader South West Awards, followed by Team of the Year at the 2023 Edie Awards and our nature fundings agreement with Triodos won ESG Deal of the Year at the 2024 Insider South West Dealmakers Awards. Our founder and CEO, Dr Rich Stockdale, is featured in the ENDS Power List as one of the top 100 UK environmental professionals driving significant impact, and was shortlisted for Edie’s Leader of the Year Award in 2024.

At Oxygen Conservation, we’re scaling impact, creating opportunities, and leading the charge for a nature-based economy that works for people, wildlife, and the planet.
