Job description

Are you ready to help define a new asset class, lead mission-driven investment, and Scale Conservation to unprecedented levels?

We’re looking for a bold and visionary Head of Investment to join our team. Someone who can blend financial expertise with environmental passion to position Oxygen Conservation at the forefront of the natural capital market.

This is not just about managing investments; it’s about reshaping how we value land, nature, and climate impact. You’ll lead investor engagement, financial structuring, and business modelling, while helping define the frameworks that underpin one of the most exciting and vital new markets of our time.

If you’re driven by purpose, hungry for challenge, and ready to inspire others with a new vision of conservation finance, this is your opportunity.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of finance, strategy, and impact. You’ll have the technical expertise to build scalable investment structures, the credibility to engage with institutional investors, and the passion to help us redefine the role of capital in restoring the natural world.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Passionate about using finance to drive environmental and social change.

  • Belief in natural capital as a credible, investable, and scalable solution to the climate and biodiversity crises.

IMPACT

  • Extensive knowledge of investment management, private equity, or capital raising, ideally with exposure to natural capital, infrastructure, or real assets.

  • Proven track record in structuring funds, capital raising, and delivering strong investor relations.

  • Strong analytical and modelling skills with experience in valuations, sensitivity analysis, and due diligence.

  • Exceptional communicator with the ability to translate complex investment structures into clear, compelling narratives.

ADVENTURE

  • Excited to help pioneer an emerging asset class, shaping governance and frameworks from the ground up.

  • Energised by working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven environment.

TOGETHER

  • Skilled relationship-builder who thrives on collaboration with colleagues, investors, advisors, and policymakers.

  • And let’s be honest, you must be really nice too. Sharing snacks on long journeys or a packed lunch whilst out in the driving rain is mandatory!

We believe in recruiting exceptional people and shaping roles that allow them to achieve extraordinary things. We are committed to building a genuinely diverse team drawn from across the country, with a wide range of lived and learnt experiences. You may bring lots of strengths in some areas and less in others, and that is absolutely fine. What matters most is knowledge of the wider investment sector, together with the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships. If you can bring those qualities and a passion for making a difference, we would love to hear from you.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Head of Investment, you’ll lead the development and delivery of Oxygen Conservation’s investment strategy. From engaging family offices and institutional investors to designing scalable financial structures, you’ll ensure our capital raising delivers both strong financial returns and transformational conservation outcomes.

You’ll be the bridge between finance and mission, working with advisors and market stakeholders to help define the future of natural capital. You’ll also collaborate closely with our environment, estates, and finance teams to build robust models, evaluate acquisitions, and deliver long-term value creation strategies.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with our brilliant General Counsel and Hot 100 lawyer, George Pawley, as we move into our next exciting phase of Scaling Conservation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Investor Engagement & Relations

  • Forge relationships with institutional investors and family offices, positioning Oxygen Conservation as a leading natural capital opportunity.

  • Manage quarterly investor reports, board updates, and governance materials.

  • Act as a spokesperson for investment opportunities, showcasing our mission-driven approach.

Defining a New Asset Class

  • Play a central role in shaping the natural capital asset class, engaging with policymakers, industry bodies, and market stakeholders.

  • Contribute to high-integrity standards, frameworks, and governance that underpin credible markets.

Business Planning & Modelling

  • Lead financial modelling at estate and portfolio level, including valuations and sensitivity analysis.

  • Develop and implement value creation strategies, business plans, and exit approaches.

Structuring & Raising Funds

  • Lead scalable capital-raising efforts that maximise both investor returns and conservation impact.

  • Prepare and tailor pitch materials, investment memoranda, and diligence materials.

  • Manage advisor relationships for transactions, including RFPs, appointments, and budget oversight.

ABOUT US

We’re building the UK’s first genuine natural capital portfolio - acquiring large landscapes, restoring them, and creating investable natural capital products like premium carbon credits, biodiversity units, renewable energy partnerships, and ecotourism experiences (you can check them out at Oxygen Escapes).

In just four years, we’ve grown to a valuation of around £300m with 50,000+ acres owned and helped connect over half a million acres for nature.

Our mission is simple: prove that restoring ecosystems can deliver world-class environmental, social, and financial returns.

Our work hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2022, we were named Start-Up of the Year at the Business Leader South West Awards, followed by Team of the Year at the 2023 Edie Awards and our nature fundings agreement with Triodos won ESG Deal of the Year at the 2024 Insider South West Dealmakers Awards. Our founder and CEO, Dr Rich Stockdale, is featured in the ENDS Power List as one of the top 100 UK environmental professionals driving significant impact, and was shortlisted for Edie’s Leader of the Year Award in 2024.
