Job description
At Oxygen Conservation, we’re redefining the role nature plays in finance, restoration, and investment. As our Natural Capital Intern, you’ll support a broad range of work spanning market research, data modelling, stakeholder engagement, and environmental project delivery. You’ll work at the heart of one of the UK’s most ambitious natural capital programmes—contributing to real-world outcomes across biodiversity, carbon, and ecosystem services.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with an eye for detail, a head for data, and a heart for the planet.
Job requirements
About You
As a Natural Capital Intern, you’ll join a team redefining how nature is valued, backed by a culture built on values of Environment, Impact, Adventure, and Togetherness. You’ll be surrounded by people who care deeply about your development and about creating positive environmental outcomes.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Passionate about nature and excited by the potential of natural capital.
Eager to learn about ecological restoration, carbon markets, and biodiversity policy.
Curious, analytical and detail-driven with a passion for uncovering insights and translating research into meaningful impact.
A love of data, modelling and sharing insights with the world.
Passionate and motivated by emerging environmental sectors.
Comfortable exploring unfamiliar topics and connecting the dots.
Collaborative, proactive, and kind.
And let’s be honest, you must be really nice too. Sharing snacks on long journeys or a packed lunch whilst out in the driving rain is mandatory!
We believe in recruiting exceptional people and creating opportunities that allow you to do incredible things. You don’t need to look or sound a certain way to belong here. We value each person’s individuality and the unique strengths they bring.
About The role
Whether you’re a data wizard, ecological hero, or spreadsheet superstar, we’d love to hear from you. We don’t expect you to have every skill listed below. What matters most is your curiosity, drive to learn, and bold ambition. Together, we’ll push the boundaries of what’s possible in the natural capital sector as part of the OC Natural Capital team!

Stakeholder Engagement: Assist in preparing materials for key stakeholders, investors, and partners, contribute to correspondence and follow-ups, and help track and log stakeholder feedback to ensure insights are captured and used to inform project delivery.
Data Analysis & Mapping: Explore environmental datasets and third-party reports to uncover meaningful insights that help push the natural capital sector forward. Use GIS to assess and visualise spatial data for restoration and impact planning, supporting evidence-based decisions that shape nature recovery across our projects
ABOUT US
We’re building the UK’s first genuine Natural Capital portfolio - acquiring large landscapes, restoring them, and creating investable Natural Capital products like premium carbon credits, biodiversity units, renewable energy partnerships, and ecotourism experiences (you can check them out at Oxygen Escapes).
In just four years, we’ve grown to a valuation of around £300m with 50,000+ acres owned and helped connect over half a million acres for nature.
Our mission is simple: prove that restoring ecosystems can deliver transformative environmental, social, and financial returns.
Our work hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2022, we were named Start-Up of the Year at the Business Leader South West Awards, followed by Team of the Year at the 2023 Edie Awards and our nature fundings agreement with Triodos won ESG Deal of the Year at the 2024 Insider South West Dealmakers Awards. Our founder and CEO, Dr Rich Stockdale, is featured in the ENDS Power List as one of the top 100 UK environmental professionals driving significant impact, and was shortlisted for Edie’s Leader of the Year Award in 2024.
