Job description
We’re opening the door to something a little different — the chance to create your own role with us. If you believe your skills, experience, and passion could drive meaningful impact at Oxygen Conservation, we want to hear from you! Whether your expertise is in ecology, estate management, property, communications, or an area we haven’t even imagined yet, this is your opportunity to do work that matters. To roll up your sleeves, get a little mud on your boots, and help redefine what conservation can look like today and into the future.
ABOUT YOU
Experience is overrated - we’re more interested in your potential, values, and passion. Here’s what makes someone thrive here:
- ENVIRONMENT: You care deeply about nature and are motivated to restore and protect it at scale.
- IMPACT: You dream of doing something incredible and have the dedication and discipline to make that a reality.
- ADVENTURE: You love exploring new ideas, new landscapes, and new ways of doing things.
- TOGETHER: You’re collaborative, kind, and generous with your energy and snacks!
Whatever your background, if you’re excited by our mission and ready to help us change the game for conservation, we want to hear from you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Since this is an open role, responsibilities will be an alignment between your skills, interests, and experience, and what we want to achieve as a business. You probably don’t know the detail of our strategy and goals, and why would you, you don’t work with us, yet! So, put forward your skills in some key areas, such as:
- Conservation & Restoration: driving forward ambitious projects that restore landscapes and enhance biodiversity.
- Storytelling: bringing fresh thinking to how we share our mission through marketing, media, and narrative.
- Planning & Property: supporting property planning, transformation, and development projects that enhance both conservation and community value.
- Project Management: managing complex projects from vision to delivery, ensuring pace, quality, and impact.
- Investment & Natural Capital: working at the interface of conservation and finance, helping us shape the natural capital sector to maximise environmental and financial returns.
- Finance: bringing rigour and creativity to business planning, financial modelling, and investment opportunities.
- Innovation & Impact: helping us find new, better, and bolder ways to scale our impact.
- Technology & Data: using GIS, drones, or data science to map, measure, and monitor natural capital and biodiversity.
- Operations & Logistics: making our teams, estates, and projects run smoothly, safely, and at pace.
- Policy & Advocacy: influencing how conservation is funded, valued, and delivered at scale.
- People & Culture: helping us recruit, develop, and retain exceptional people, and protect our unique culture.
ABOUT US
Oxygen Conservation was founded in 2021 by the Oxygen House Group and Dr Rich Stockdale with a clear mission: Scaling Conservation. We acquire land at scale on behalf of asset owners to deliver transformative environmental and social impact — creating profit as a result of what we do. In just three years, we’ve completed twelve transactions, assembling a portfolio of over 43,000 acres dedicated to restoring and protecting nature.
Our vision is intentionally aspirational and inspirational: by 2030, we aim to have £1 billion of natural capital assets under management, enabling us to protect and restore 250,000 acres of land for people and wildlife. By combining our scale, reputation, cutting-edge data, and exceptional skills, we’re redefining conservation.
Our work hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2022, we were named Start-Up of the Year at the Business Leader South West Awards, followed by Team of the Year at the 2023 Edie Awards and our nature fundings agreement with Triodos won ESG Deal of the Year at the 2024 Insider South West Dealmakers Awards. Our founder and CEO, Dr Rich Stockdale, is featured in the ENDS Power List as one of the top 100 UK environmental professionals driving significant impact, and was shortlisted for Edie’s Leader of the Year Award in 2024.
At Oxygen Conservation, we’re scaling impact, creating opportunities, and leading the charge for a nature-based economy that works for people, wildlife, and the planet.
